Australasian Council of Public Accounts Committees 18th Conference Hobart (20-21 April 2026)

ACAG members joined over 72 individuals from the Australasian Council of Public Accounts Committees (ACPAC), Pacific Nations Public Accounts Committees (PanPac) and the Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI) at the Tasmanian Parliament in Hobart to share lessons and insights on financial oversight, accountability and transparency. ACAG acknowledges the valuable opportunity provided by the Tasmanian Parliamentary Standing Committee of Public Accounts. The high number of participants from across the Pacific was indicative of the excellent engagement undertaken and program developed.

The next ACPAC conference will be in Sydney in 2028.

ACAG Training Coordinator and Facilitator

ACAG is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Craig Neil to the position of ACAG Training Coordinator and Facilitator.  Mr Neil commenced in the role 1 August 2025 and brings extensive experience as a public sector Performance Auditor including as an independent consultant developing and delivering performance audit training with the Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI) and as the Assistant Auditor-General in the New Zealand Office of the Auditor-General from 1999-2006. 

Mr Neil will lead the delivery of performance audit training for ACAG members.

ACAG Members thank Mr Mike Scott for his excellent work over the past six years leading ACAG's performance audit training. Mr Scott finished in the role mid 2025 and supported Mr Neil's transition.  ACAG wishes Mr Scott all the very best.  

Executive Director news

The ACAG Members thank Ms Rachel Portelli for her outstanding contribution as Executive Director, ACAG from 2016 to November 2023. During this time, Ms Portelli implemented robust governance and systems administration, strengthened stakeholder relationships, and positioned ACAG well to deliver on its Strategic Plan 2022-2025. The Members wish Ms Portelli well in her future endeavours.

On 20 November 2023, ACAG Members welcomed Ms Jenni Tierney as the newly appointed Executive Director of ACAG.  Ms Tierney brings with her extensive public sector executive and leadership experience across a range of policy areas. In partnership with the ACAG Executive, Ms Tierney will be responsible for maturing ACAG's strategy to strengthen the value of public sector auditing across Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Fiji.
